Welcome To Oakbank School |
|
Oakbank School is a Foundation co-educational comprehensive school catering for students aged 11 to 19. It has just over 1800 students, of whom 250 are in our sixth form. We take in 330 pupils a year. Foundation status means that we are funded through Bradford LA but we are our own employers, run our own admissions policy, own our own land. We are a Specialist Sports College. This means we have extra resources for developing sport in school and in the community, more teachers and more coaches able to offer a wider variety of activities. All this is in addition to the normal curriculum and not instead of it. |

The Headteacher's Introduction |
|
Welcome to Oakbank School. Here at Oakbank student achievement comes first. We have high expectations of all our students, and seek to ensure that they make outstanding progress, both in and out of lessons. To succeed in this, we believe that partnership with our parents is crucial and pride ourselves on our excellent home-school links. We want our pupils not only to achieve their academic potential, but also enjoy school, to take part in an extensive range of extra curricular activities, and, at all times be perfectly safe. Above all, we want them to leave Oak bank as confident, mature young adults, fully equipped with the skills and knowledge to be successful in whatever they choose to do. |

Dear Parent/Carer At Oakbank we place the achievement of your children at the heart of everything we do. In order to provide an environment in which children can learn effectively we have to operate a robust behaviour programme that is both fair and effective. The system we currently run has been reviewed and some alterations have been made to ensure it matches our vision. The Think and Choose programme is central to the way the school operates. It helps all members of the school community feel secure because we are really clear about what behaviour is unacceptable and what the consequences will be. It makes everyone feel valued because it is a way of making sure students are rewarded for good behaviour. |
